How do you select your nannies?

We personally interview our nannies and carefully assess their childcare experience, qualifications and suitability. We also check references and require relevant background documentation and childcare certifications.

Are your nannies First Aid trained?

Yes. Our nanny team includes professionals with First Aid, CPR and paediatric First Aid training. We also verify relevant childcare documentation as part of our screening process.

Can we meet our nanny before our booking?

Yes. We can arrange an virtual or paid meet-and-greet/interview before a booking so that parents and children can meet their nanny beforehand.

Can we request a specific nanny?

Yes. Where availability allows, you are welcome to request a specific nanny.

What if we are not happy with our nanny?

We want every family to feel completely comfortable with their nanny. If, for any reason, you are not happy with the nanny assigned to you, please contact us as soon as possible. Subject to availability, we will do our best to arrange a replacement nanny so that you and your children continue to receive the professional care you expect from Wineland Nannies.

Will you match the nanny to our children's ages and needs?

Yes. We consider your children's ages, routines, personalities and any specific requirements when recommending a nanny. We aim to match each family with a nanny whose experience and skills are suited to their needs.

What happens if our nanny becomes sick or is unable to attend?

Your nanny becomes unavailable, we will arrange a suitable replacement nanny. Our priority is to ensure that your childcare arrangements continue with as little disruption as possible.

Can our nanny look after our children outside our accommodation?

Yes. Your nanny can accompany you and your children outside your accommodation, to restaurants, wine farms, excursions and any other activities you have planned. Nannies do not provide child transportation in their personal vehicles.

Do your nannies know how to swim?

Some of our nannies are confident swimmers, while others are not. If you would like us to arrange a nanny who is a confident swimmer, please let us know when making your booking so that we can share suitable nanny profiles with you.

Can our nanny stay overnight?

Yes. We offer overnight nanny services. For overnight bookings, the nanny must have suitable sleeping arrangements and access to a bathroom.

Can the nanny prepare food for our children?

Nannies can assist with simple meals and snacks for the children during their booking. Please advise us in advance of any allergies, dietary requirements or religious dietary considerations so that these can be discussed with the nanny beforehand.

Do I have the same nanny if I book a number of days or evenings?

Yes. Providing the same nanny for a serious of days is something we really strive to achieve as we know how important this is for the parents as well as for the children.

How much do your nannies earn per hour?

We believe in fair remuneration for our nannies and are committed to ensuring they are fairly compensated for the important work they do.

Our nannies receive R150 per hour for bookings and R70 per hour for overnight bookings and night nannying. Double rates apply to all bookings on public holidays.

The rate you pay Wineland Nannies also covers recruitment and vetting, booking coordination, administration, insurance and the other costs involved in providing a professional, reliable childcare service.

Are you insured?

Yes. Wineland Nannies maintains Commercial General Liability Insurance in connection with the childcare services we provide. We take the safety of every child in our care very seriously.

CHILDCARE, ACTIVITIES, PLAY & ENTERTAINMENT

How many children can one nanny look after?

Our standard holiday nanny service is based on one nanny per family, providing your children with dedicated, personalised care throughout your booking.

For weddings, events, group bookings and nanny-share arrangements, we work according to specific nanny-to-child ratios based on the number and ages of the children. This ensures that there are enough nannies available to provide safe, attentive and appropriate care for all children.Our standard childcare ratios are:

Children under 4 years: 1 nanny to 2 children
Children aged 4 years and older: 1 nanny to 4 children

*Additional nannies may be required depending on the children's ages, activities, bedtime arrangements and whether children are sleeping in separate rooms.

What does a holiday nanny do?

Our nannies provide hands-on childcare tailored to your family's needs. This can include feeding, bathing, playing, reading, walks, outings and assisting with bedtime routines.

Do you provide babysitting at hotels and holiday accommodation?

Yes. We provide holiday nanny and babysitting services at hotels, villas, guesthouses, private residences and other holiday accommodation throughout our service areas and byond.

I want the nanny service to help with my wedding, is it possible?

Absolutely. these kinds of bookings normally comes from the wedding planner or the bride and groom themselves. They normally know the families who are wanting some childcare so they will forward us the contact details of said families and we will take it from there.

Do you provide toys and activities for children?

Yes. Our nannies bring age-appropriate ideas for play and activities as part of their childcare. We also offer our Bubble Bag, a curated selection of toys, books and activities that families can arrange for their holiday.

What is a Bubble Bag?

Our Bubble Bags are filled with a selection of toys, books and activities to keep little ones entertained during their stay.

Do your nannies provide activities and entertainment for children?

Yes. Keeping children happy, engaged and entertained is naturally part of our nanny service. During a booking, our nannies provide age-appropriate play, activities, games, books, creative activities and other suitable entertainment based on the children's ages, interests and the setting.

Our service is, however, professional childcare — we are not a children's entertainment company. Our nannies are there primarily to supervise and care for the children while keeping them engaged and having fun.

We do not provide specialist children's entertainment services such as face painting, balloon twisting, magic shows, professional entertainers, character performers or similar entertainment services.

If you are looking for dedicated children's entertainment for a wedding, event or celebration, we are happy to recommend specialist children's entertainment providers who offer these services.

Do you provide children’s entertainment for weddings and events?

Our wedding and event nannies provide professional childcare along with age-appropriate games, activities, creative play, books and other forms of entertainment to keep children happy and engaged throughout the event.

We also offer our Pop-Up Creche, providing a dedicated, child-friendly space with age-appropriate toys, activities, crafts and play equipment for children attending weddings and events.

CAPE TOWN, CAPE WINELANDS & BEYOND

Where do you provide holiday nanny services?

We primarily provide holiday nanny, night nanny and babysitting services throughout Cape Town and the Cape Winelands, including Franschhoek, Stellenbosch, Paarl and Somerset West.

Do you provide nanny services outside your normal service area?

Yes. We offer a Travelling Nanny Service for families staying outside our usual service area. An additional travel fee applies depending on the location.

NIGHT NANNIES

Do you offer a night nanny service?

Yes. Our night nanny service is designed for families who need professional childcare support overnight.

What does a night nanny do?

A night nanny can assist with overnight childcare, including settling children, responding to their needs during the night, assisting with feeds and other agreed childcare duties.

For overnight bookings, the nanny can either share a room with the baby/child or, where preferred, be provided with a private bedroom and private bathroom.

If the nanny is required to be actively on duty throughout the night, suitable access to a bathroom and a comfortable place to sit is required.

BOOKINGS & CANCELLATIONS

How do I confirm my booking?

Your booking is confirmed once payment has been received.

What happens if I need to cancel my booking?

A full refund will be issued if your bookingis canclleled 24 hours prior to the start booking. A 25% cancellation fee will apply.

Can I change my booking after it has been confirmed?

Yes, subject to availability. We ask families to provide as much notice as possible, with changes generally needing to be made at least 4 hours before the booking.

MEALS

Do I need to provide meals and refreshments for the nanny

For bookings of 5 hours or longer, the family is required to provide the nanny with a meal and refreshments during her shift. For live-in nannies, this is mandatory.

For health and safety reasons, including food allergies and cross-contamination risks, we ask families to let us know in advance if there are any food allergies or dietary restrictions in the household.

A nanny may bring her own meal if she prefers, provided that the family has confirmed that there are no known food allergies or other health and safety concerns that would make this unsuitable.

LAST MINUTE BOOKINGS

Do you accept last-minute bookings?

Yes! We welcome last-minute and same-day bookings, subject to nanny availability.

For last-minute bookings, we require a minimum of 90 minutes' notice to allow us sufficient time to contact and confirm an available nanny for your family.
